Fahnenjunker – Gefreiter Keller

Full Name: Heinrich Keller
Born: 28th May 1911 - Rinteln, Braunschweig
Civillian Occupation: Electrical Engineer

Heinrich was taught many things about electricity by his father as a child, so it seemed only natural that he would follow in his footsteps. As a result, Heinrich left school in 1934, to work assisting his father at his Electrical Engineering Company.

He went to study electrical engineering at Hannover in 1937, and it was here he was encouraged to join the military, and like his friends, joined the Armee and saw active service in Poland during 1939.

In 1940, he was drafted into signal training at Bielefeld,and went on to join the Großdeutschland  Signals Battalion, seeing service in France and was awarded the Infantry Assault Badge. Later, in Russia 1941, he was promoted to Gefreiter after winning the War Merit Cross and was further decorated with the Ostfront Medal, and given a field promotion to Fahnenjunker-Gefreiter in 1942
