Dieter Lapstien
Full Name: Dieter Lapstien
Born: 5/10/09 - Osnabruck
Dieter left school when he was fourteen and worked at his Fathers garage for
four years as an apprentice mechanic, but found being up to his elbows in axle
grease was not for him.
At the age of 18 he joined the local police force,
and after completing his training served in the Hanover police force for 11
years attaining the rank of sergeant. In 1937 he moved to the Hanover police
school as an instructor.
In 1939 he joined the newly formed Feldgendarmarie, and studied in Prague at
one of the 2 Feldgaendarmarie schools. After extensive training he was stationed
in Berlin, which he found both exciting and thrilling.
His stay in the capital was'nt to last and in August 1940 he was transferd
to Paris where his duties varied but were normaly within the purveiw of other
law enforcement or security agencies of the Third Reich.
As a result his efforts were then focused on the struggle against spies, saboteurs
and traitors and also keping the German occupying force in order, which was
technically the the responsibilty of various security services such as the
Gestapo. However as a measure of the high comands faith in their performance,
the Feldgendarmarie had to be an extremly flexible force that could perform
practically any Police or security role without hesitation.
In September 1941 he was transfered to to a Feldgendamarie Abteilung, serving
on the Eastern front with the Grossdeutschland, 2/ PZ. Aufkl.ABT.GD
