Name: Rudolf Schmitt

Herr Schmitt was born and grew up in the town of Nordhausen.

His Mother died during Birth and so; he was an only child. His father wanted the best for young Rudolf, being only a factory worker himself, so introduced him to literature; it was then he discovered his talent for writing.

Rudolf joined the 'Hitlerjugend' movement at a young age, but seemed reluctant to let this progress into a military career.

Herr Schmitt then went on to college in 1938 to study Literature in high hopes of one day becomming a famous novelist.
After studying for roughly two years he was finally convinced by his teacher; who was a WW1 veteran and member of NSDAP, to join the army and fight for his country.

Herr Schmitt joined the Army on the 1st of May, 1940 and past out on the 1st of July 1940. He went on to serve with the 46th Infantry Division and fought in the Loire Valley until France's fall. Herr schmitt was then transferred on request to a Reconaissance Battalion within the Grossdeutschland Infantry Regiment in August 1941 and left for Russia in early 1942.
